Berita7 |Tangerang, Indonesia | July 25, 2025,. – In an effort to strengthen food safety in public markets, the Tangerang City Health Department has re-launched its mobile food laboratory program, “Si Pangling” (Pelayanan Lab Pangan Keliling), focusing on the inspection of processed and packaged foods sold in two major traditional markets: Pasar Anyar and Pasar Babakan.[irp posts=”50902″ ]

The initiative, spearheaded by the department’s Public Health Division and Environmental Health Task Force, is part of the city’s ongoing strategy to ensure safe food consumption among its residents.[irp posts=”50708″ ]

“This initiative aims to ensure that food products being sold and consumed by the public are free from harmful substances and safe for health,” said Dr. Dini Aggraeni, Head of the Tangerang Health Office.

Dr. Dini emphasized that Si Pangling serves not only as an inspection effort but also as an educational platform. Health officers on site engage directly with vendors and shoppers, offering guidance on identifying safe food products and maintaining hygiene in food preparation and storage.

By conducting field-based food testing and public engagement, the city aims to raise awareness about food safety and foster long-term behavioral changes in both sellers and consumers.

“We don’t just test the food. We also educate the community on choosing safe products and maintaining cleanliness throughout the food supply chain, Dr. Dini added.

To further promote proactive participation from residents, the Health Office has established *Food Safety Corners at 22 traditional and modern markets throughout the city. These stations offer free food testing services to help citizens verify the safety of their groceries.

This localized approach to food safety in Tangerang reflects broader public health goals across Southeast Asia, where urban population growth and informal market activity demand innovative, on-the-ground solutions for ensuring food security and consumer protection.
