Berita7 | Tangerang, Indonesia — July 27, 2025,. As the humanitarian crisis in Palestine continues to escalate, government employees from Tangerang City, Indonesia, have united in a significant act of solidarity by donating Rp918.5 million (approximately USD 57,000) in humanitarian relief.

The donation was handed over symbolically by Mayor H. Sachrudin during a ceremony commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), held at the MUI Building in Tangerang on Saturday evening, July 26, 2025.

In his address, Mayor Sachrudin expressed his appreciation to the Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN)—the civil servants within the Tangerang City Government—who voluntarily contributed to the cause, motivated by a sense of shared humanity and moral responsibility.
“This donation is a reflection of the empathy and compassion of Tangerang’s public servants. We hope this support can ease the burden of our brothers and sisters in Palestine who are suffering due to ongoing conflict,” said Mayor Sachrudin.
The relief was distributed through a collaboration with Baznas (National Zakat Agency) and MUI Tangerang City, as part of a program titled “MUI Shares 50 Blessings”. The initiative also included social assistance for orphans, underprivileged families, and 50 mosques across 13 districts in the city.

The event, which doubled as the celebration of MUI’s 50th anniversary, was attended by Banten Governor Andra Soni along with religious leaders and local community figures. The milestone recognizes MUI’s ongoing contributions to religious guidance, interfaith unity, and national development since its founding in 1975.

“This is a historic occasion celebrating five decades of religious leadership and dedication to the nation,” said Mayor Sachrudin. “MUI has consistently safeguarded Islamic values, provided fatwas for the community, and strengthened unity across generations.”
He noted that MUI’s half-century journey symbolizes unwavering commitment to upholding Islamic teachings, providing ethical guidance, and responding to the evolving needs of society.

In his remarks, the mayor also addressed new challenges facing religious institutions, particularly in the era of digital communication, global misinformation, and shifting social values.
“MUI plays an increasingly critical role as the front line in spreading Islam as a mercy to all (rahmatan lil ‘alamin), fostering religious harmony, and countering harmful ideologies,” he emphasized.
He concluded by urging MUI to continue embracing innovation in religious outreach, especially by engaging younger generations and utilizing technology to share inclusive, peaceful Islamic values.
